Edge EZ?
pgilles - I wouldn't mind have a bit more pep and a more authoritative cloud (when desired). I'm running just an EZ with RV275's. My truck is a 2000 model. Would this apply to me as well?
My EZ has been on so long, I don't remember how it hooked up. I'll read through this topic again and try to make sense of it. But your previous post did not clear it up for me because I do remember that I didn't have to splice any wires.

its all plugs, no cutting of wires. the stock truck has the ECM plugged into the MAP sensor. you unplug the ECM from the MAP sensor. plug the EZ female plug to the ECM male plug, and plug the EZ male plug to the MAP sensor.
(the female/male ends could be backwards but i dont remember) but the point is it it's just plugs. no splicing of wires (in the sense you have to cut anything), just unplugging and plugging back in.

Yessir, that's the way I remember it. However, I think my 2000 model is just a bit different under the hood. Which kind of confuses me.
The connector that is attached to the top of the LP bracket (show on the diagram) I think is different on my truck. I'm pretty sure that I disconnected that connector on top of the LP and connected the EZ inline right there (just like your previous description). As if the factory decided to change the connector to the MAP sensor to be located to the top of the LP bracket. I have no idea what they did with the connector that was there (hmmm, seems like there may have been 2 connectors attached to the top of my LP bracket).
1) Does that sound like something you've heard of? Or is that the normal way? Because I didn't unplug the connector at the MAP at location #8 on the diagram (like from the side of the block) as shown.
2) That being said, I imagine all I would need to do is unplug connector coming from my EZ that runs to the MAP sensor ... right?
3) Will unplugging the MAP sensor throw a code? Any other downside to this (loss of mpg, etc.)? P.S. I consider more smoke a upside ... properly used of course.
Thanks.

1) that could very well be. each year has subtle differences so i wouldnt think too much about it.
2) that is correct
3) it shouldnt throw a code. the EZ doesnt allow the ECM to 'see' what is happening at the MAP sensor (the boost fooling feature of the EZ). if it does throw a code, just plug it back in...and clear the code. it wont ruin your truck.
MPGs rely on your foot.
i noticed when i did it that cruise seems to have a surge to it....my thoughts are it's throwing more fuel in when the computer asks for it, maybe it throws too much than has to recover by backing off. doing this over and over again might have created the surging. ????? <---dont know if unplugging the MAP created this for sure, but its what i seemed to notice with my truck. let me know what you think...

i have read here in another post that many people have surging with the map unplugged. anyways, according to the edge website, on the 2000-02 the map and data link are next to the fuel filter, and on the 1998.5-99 the data link is on the front.

http://www.edgeproducts.com/product_...manual-153.pdf, try that, i think it explains it in here and has a couple pictures too, make sure you unplugged the right one. i know on my EZ, the map is the round plug in, but its a different year so???
If I get the cruise control surge, I'll probably plug the MAP sensor back in. I use the cruise a lot.- JyRO
Just another hint - if you unplug the EZ from the data port but leave the MAP sensor plugged into the EZ, you have stock timing and fueling, but have a boost fooler. This can be useful when towing heavy with bigger injectors - my max pre-turbo EGTs drop from 1450 degF to about 1200 degF by unplugging the EZ from the data port. It also makes life easier for the clutch when towing.
