I just got home from Wayne's dyno in Jacksonville N.C. where DTR is holding there 2nd Annual N.C. dyno/drags this weekend. Alot of the members have been watching my progress(BOMBS) that I have done to my truck over the last 2 weeks. I wanted to do my bombs in steps to see what each would net in HP+TQ. To start I have a 95 Auto with 220,000 miles you can see I have a #4plate,4"exhaust,BHAF,191DVs,4000GSK,Timing@17deg rees and 60lbs springs "STOCK INJECTORS+TURBO" . I have said before that I would dyno using a BHAF and a large K+N which I did. I also plan on installing some injectors and a HTB2 in the next few weeks and dyno again to see (and let everyone here know) what kind of extra power the injectors+turbo make. Here is what I got 68degree temp 30.22in-Hg 15% Humidity
1st run BHAF- Max Power=288.07 Max Torque=669.88
2nd run Large K+N-Max Power=285.35 Max Torque=663.27
As you can see my BHAF (napa 2790) made better numbers then a large K+N "go figure?"
Hope this helps everyone who is getting ready to do bombs, as what you might gain from doing these mods.
Like I said before I will let everyone know what injectors I get and what the power is.
If anyone has some 215s that I can use I'd like to see what kind of #s they put out on my truck too because I'm looking at some 370s and some others. You send me some different injectors and I'll dyno them and post the #s.

My truck still has the factory 160 pump and it does put out alot of SMOKE
I don't mind the smoke, its really only there when you have your foot to the floor. If I drive normal
it just fine.

The boost is the great part, it hits 39lbs in a heartbeat
. but the EGTs don't take long to go to 1500. The only thing I can say is that it is a great combo, the DVs,springs and the plate but you will need a turbo housing or a larger turbo. Going down the road it only hits 550 at 65 MPH which I think is pretty good. The only time the EGTs get real high is when you stay full throttle for over 8-10 seconds, Easy to control. I'm very happy and will be more happy when my downpipe gets here.

Im In Western KY.I was thinking of the dvs and putting in some 370s but I tow and I hate having to back out of it when the egt go to high.Im putting in the gsk next.
Is that converter the only thing you have done to your trans,whats that tc cost.Is your trans holding ok.
I have to get up to napa to and get a bhaf for my next quick mod,it sure shows that the k and n isnt the way to go..
your truck sounds like its running good,The dyno runs in steps with your mods is really good info.It would be cool to do each mod then do a dyno run that would be some really good detailed info to.

This is my thought on a GSK, the cost isnt much different between the 3k+4k so I went with the 4k and the #60 valve springs so if I ever do an exhaust brake the valve springs are already done, one less step later. I want to be able to tow about 7000lbs without looking at the EGT gauge all the time so I'm not jumping into the 370s til I have more info. My tranny was rebuilt about 40,000 miles ago-stock rebuild and maybe a little VB tweeking I really don't know. As you already read I'm going to dyno after each mod so members like you can see first hand not hear-say what each mod is worth in HP+TQ

Yeah I have a 3gsk now new in the bag I got for my old truck but I think I want to go with the 4gsk with my small pump.I guess ill just sell off the 3gsk.It would be cool to try a couple other plates before the new turbo to.Jim Fulmer got 300hp with a 10 plate and similar setup .
I was going to go with the 370s ,but when you figure in dvs for the small pump at 200-250 bux,and a 150 or so for an exhaust housing or 200 for bigger turbo housing and wheel or both and then having to get the big south bend clutch for 1000 or more to hold it ,it really adds up quick.
Im thinking some 215s and some 181 dvs with the stuff i have and the bhaf and 4gsk ill have a good ,not too hot towing setup.Ill still probably have to get a better clutch after a while,mines still holding good but I dont really know what clutch is in there.

You can use the 3k GSK it will be ok since you have it already. My truck only turned 3200RPMs on the dyno today with the 4Ks but there nice. I really think its worth spending an extra $150.00 for valve springs and get it done, like I said you may want an exhaust brake one day.
Did you change the pump on your truck? it should be a 180HP and if it is it has 181DVs in it already. If your pump was changed to a 160 and you want to put 181DVs in it I would like to know where you are going to get 181s?

My whole motor was swapped out for a low mileage 95 auto motor ,It still has the tps on it.Dodgeman and some other guys say the 4gsk works better with the small 160 pump than the 3 so i thought I would try it.I dont know where to get the 181 I was hoping someone with a big pump that installed 191s or lasercuts would sell me some used ones.I have an ad in the want ads here for them.
Ill be watching to see what the 215s do.I wish you already had them before the turbo so we could see what they do alone/

If my temps are that high now with 160s I don't want to think about the 215s on there. "WAY TO HOT" I think your going to have a hard time finding some 181s, nobody wants to get rid of them.

Depending on your converter and trans condition, if you're swapping your turbo, I'd skip the 215's and go with some 300's or 370's. I got about 3 months out of my stock trans after swapping an 8 plate with a 10 plate and 215's. I can easily hit 1300*+ with the plate in the stock position. Time for exhaust.....
Masonic-Dodge: I read where someone said that 215's lowered there EGT's? Sounds wierd to me, but i dont know? Keep us posted on EGT's, boost and dyno #'s. Im hopefully getting a better TC, deliver valves, and a 16cm turbo housing soon. Also, right now, it seems like im about like you on EGT's. I can put it on about 1450* by the time i get to 65mph. Thats the reason for the turbo housing, and ill need it anyway if i get delivery valves which im still debating on. I dont like high egt's, but i would like more power, but i dont want to break my tranny, so i dont know whats gonna happen.lol

The most I'd see from a dead stop to about 80mph was maybe 1150 degrees even pulling a 6000lbs camper going up a long hill (not a mountain) was about the same. I have not moved my plate or star wheel from the stock location, maybe thats why my EGTs were so low.
I did get my down pipe today so I'll try to get it on one night this week and see how much a HTB2 will drop my EGTs then some time in the next few weeks I'll get my truck dynoed again to see what the turbo did to the HP+TQ. I also waht to have a couple sets of injectors when I go to the dyno. I'll do a run with the stock 160s then maybe some 215s and 370s, we'll see and I'll post all the #s so all the members might have a better idea which way they want to go.
