Drop in mufflers for stacks
Drop in mufflers for stacks
I was hearing about some sort of muffler that you drop in stacks to quiet it. I don't want to put a muffler because I love the sound, but I would like to quiet the drone a little for long trips. Does anyone know who makes these, and how much they are? Thanks

How eazy are they in and out. It would be nice to drop em in before a road trip, and then take em out when you got home. Minus the 10min with the
go-jo to get the soot off your hands! Does anyone have an idea on a ball park price? Fell free to PM to keep out of trouble.

www.grpipes.com has them (hope I'm not breaking any rules here). The drop in one's are 45" long so we'd have to cut them to make them fit in our trucks. They do make a bolt in muffler for our trucks that goes under the cab. Both of them look like a giant auger bit. They even have detailed dyno runs showing a 0hp/3tq gain on a chipped cummins and fuel mileage increases of .5mpg so apparently these things work.

the two holes are to keep them from falling down and geting stuck in the bends at the bottom, and so they dont rattle. you might be able to but a permanent screw in the bottme above the bend to hold them up and use something like a small strip of sheet metal to wedge them in at the top or just another screw they should work fine.

i welded mine to the mottom of the stack tip. if i didn't it would have rattled more than my motor. there isn't much difference before and after.... just a little less raspier (sp) it's still loud.... it still drones.... just not as bad as the 3" straight pipe....

I don't think these are the same as you're talking about, but thought I'd post them anyway. http://airflo.com/index.html
