You'll definately know when your clutch is slipping. At least when my stocker started slipping it was as if the transmission went into neutral. This was quite a problem back in 2000, when I first got my truck, because aftermaket clutch solutions were hard to come by back then. Keeping your rpms above 2000 helps it last longer because your out of the max torque band. I think driving style explains why some people get by with a stock clutch at anything above 330 hp on the ETH/DEE.
On the ETH engine there's very little power difference, if any, between level 1 and level 5 on a normal Comp box. With the Drag Comp there's very little difference between levels 1 through 4, and a small difference on level 5/5. When I do use mine, it's on either level 1 or level 5 -- mostly 5. Most of the time I run with the box off to easier control smoke.
