DonM's EDM's
DonM's EDM's
I just wanted to give my opinion of my latest acquisition. I recieve a nice little white box on friday of last week with a set of DonM's Mach 5 injectors in it. They have been in my truck since friday night and all I can say is wow. Saturday I went to a local dyno event and ran 387hp with the box OFF and 634.5hp with the box ON. Not only is the hp unbelievable but I just got home from a 400mile trip and got 17mpg running them ;D. That was hand calculated milage as my overhead said like 24.5mpg the last time I looked at it. I wouldn't recommend them for the street but with a very lite foot you could probably get away with it. The cruise control kinda surges with them as well. If you ever want to turn day into night get yourself a set of these bad boys ;D

I have the stage 2's got them over DD 2's and WOW they pull like a freight train. You had better be paying attention to where you are going and keep your head up cause its off like a rocket.

Nate..was the "WoW" for the price or performance?

quote:

I just wanted to give my opinion of my latest acquisition. Re:DonM's EDM's
Steve unfortunately if you wanna play you gotta pay there is alot more involved in honing a set of EDM injectors then a regular set. I was told by Don it takes more time to dial indicate and setup 1 EDM injector then it takes to make a whole set of DD 8's.

Don's Mach 5's are very similar in price to BD7's and 8's. I'm not sure what MM's cost but I assume they are all very similar.

If ya wanna play ya gotta pay.

Nathan
P.S. Sponsorships welcome ;D
Re:DonM's EDM's
I guess in my absense I missed all the excitement: tell me about the Don_M injectors, how they are better than the DD's (especially stage 2's), and all of that. Don, you must have gotten the production things ironed out. Are you seeing a real reduction in smoke? better HP or mileage?

comments please on the suitability of a Don_m for an '02 ETH with an edge box. Jamie, I notice you sprang for a set of these. With appologies for missing out on the big announcements, tell me please how these are working out for you. -- dlleno

I have to say that EDM's are the king by far they turn on so hard and my truck absolutely hauls butt compared to the DD's smoke is less under WOT but its about the same off boost less smoke at mid range hit though.

Re:DonM's EDM's
Nate...Do you or does Don have any performance information regarding HP levels by number as compared to DD's or BD's. I guess what I'm getting to is EDM's #5 equal to say MM or BD's #5? what is the advantage of EDM's process vs extrude honed ? I'm not trying to "knock" the EDM injectors, just wanting some information for possible testing and purchase.

Steve

P.S. a free sample would be nice. :

Re:DonM's EDM's
Steve,

I believe the Mach 3's are rated at 50hp over DD3's or 150hp. Beyond that Don will have to jump in here to either correct me or add to what I have said. What I will say is Don told me that his Mach 5's will dyno higher than any of the EH 5's on the market. It would be interesting to see how they compare with BD6-8's but as far as I know that hasn't happened yet.

Nathan
Re:DonM's EDM's
Nate..Thanks, are the Mach #5's driveable ( as a daily driver ?) or strickly for competition? I know the DD supermentals are, and I'm not sure about BD#5's . Hopefully, Don will have some sort of comparison or perhaps, some dyno info? I guess we are all hoping , and perhaps Don has done this, develop a streetable high performance injector to be used besides competition. ???

I think others are as curious as I am, so performance, smoke , and HP comparisons can be made, to help us better decide purchase options. Much like turbos, clutches, auto trannies, fueling boxes, shocks, exhaust systems, etc.

Steve
Re:DonM's EDM's
Steve,

I've been driving them on the street but at your elevation it might be hard to do. If you baby it during acceleration they dont smoke much at all but if you stab the throttle it'll blacken the road. The twins dont help due to slower spool up. I think Don's Mach3's are the biggest he recommends for the street. They are comparable to MM's in hp so basically a set of EDM's buys you a step higher for the street.

Once again, Don if this is out of line correct me
Nathan

We haven't had a chance to dyno any of his stuff yet, but from other dyno runs that others have done, it sure looks like he's underrating the injectors a hair.

Rod
Re:DonM's EDM's
The Mach 5 injector is not for street driving at any altitude. The 4's can be driven on the street as long as the truck in question is not above 2000ft. 3's are streetable, but at altitude will smoke if you mat the pedal.

The HP ratings given below are not inflated. I rate them all lower than what they have dyno tested.

2's are 100HP
3's are 125HP
4's are 150HP
5's are 160HP

I dont have a 220HP innjector.
