Thanks Bob, is great you can give us report how PDR compare to DZ. What is your max boost now or you just let wastegate open on same boost like with PDR ?

I've kept the wastegate open at 38 PSI without any egt problems, But I am comp user w/o a wire tap.

I believe HP gains for me can be obtained without tapping the pump and using larger EDM's

I am very happy right now.

Are you going to get a chance to dyno with the DZ vs the PDR-35? It'd be great to know the difference in hp and when (rpm wise) the DZ kicks in vs. the PDR!

Yes, you CAN use the 12cm housing, but that's WAY too small for the DZ. You will have almost instant spoolup, but the HX40 compressor moves a lot more air than the 35 does.

The 12cm is a little too small for even the 35. When you go to the bigger compressor, the choke point gets worse. Push it past that choke point and EGT will skyrocket!

I would personally use a 14 housing on any hx 35 (pdr 35, etc) and go up to the 16 housing on a Dodgezilla. The 16 will give you a little higher average EGT, but lower PEAK egt. The loss of spool with the 16 is not that significant if you are running anything more than 300hp or so.

Even with only EZ and RV 275's ? I don't push so much fuel, I think.

Tim has stated in the past that ez and 275's an 12cm housing works fine. He's even running that combination

He's also not pushing the turbo far enough to hit the choke point with only 300hp of fuel or so.

When you get to about 350, you should have a 14 housing to avoid the choke.

Closer to 400, a 16 housing is the way to go.

Of course, if you are going to run only 300hp worth of fuel, you don't really need a turbo upgrade. The stocker is just fine.

My reasoning is that IF you are getting a DZ it's because you want to run more fuel. Thus, the recommendation for the larger housings.

I em running Hy 35 now and on 30 psi boost I feel like choking the engine. But maybe you are refering to 12 cm exhaust housing my is just 9cm. What turbo size you do run ?

30 psi is about the limit for the Hy-9. The limit for the HX35 is more like 35-36psi. You can push either of them higher, but they are way out of their efficiency range and you risk granding them.

I run the stock HX35-12 with DD2s and the EZ. Thus, I am pretty close to the limits of this turbo, even though I can barely hit 28psi (altitude and winter fuel)

More Power, the Dodgezilla is put together and sold at City Diesel in Decatur, Alabama. Wildcat in Canada also sells it, and Rod'll have City Diesel ship directly to you.

I ran the 12cm2 stock exhaust housing off an HX35 on the DZ for a couple of weeks. I've got an EZ & 275's on an ETH/DEE. Spooled with hardly any lag, but cut off the top-end performance. Running a 14cm2 right now; a bit of lag, but I can drive through it easily with the 6 speed. A spot more fuel, and bingo.

And no, you may think the stock HX35 is OK with around 300-325 HP, and perhaps on paper it is. But the upgrade makes a world of difference running with loads at highway speeds and on grades. Also when boost hits 30 psi, you'll notice a real difference.

i think i may be sold on the DZ. im running dd3's and a comp with no wire right now. my truck has a ton of power and empty @ WOT it will go a few seconds before i gotta get off the go pedal. i tow a 16' flatbed w/ a hacked up toyota chassis on D60's up the sierra passes during the spring/summer so i think its turbo time for me.

guys who are running the 16cm* housing.....is smoke controllable? i live in the bay area and cant be fogging or else ill wind up at the smoke police
