Diesel Dynamics True Torque Module

Can a 2002 DDTTM be used on a 98.5 truck? Can I just change the plugs or is the programming different also? My brother's truck is an 02 and he is upgrading. I want to compare it with my EZ. EZ claims 65 hp/185tq and DDTTM claims 50hp/100tq. But after checking their 2001 catalog they claimed a yield of over 80hp/225tq. I called them and the guy I talked to confirmed it. But he didn't know if there was a programming difference from the 98.5 - 00. I also like that it is designed for bigger injectors so you can adjust the fuel to come on at 20 PSI - no smoke!

I know you can't use an EZ from 1998.5-2000 on a 2001-2002 truck due to different programming (as well as different connectors), so hazarding a guess, I'd say no, it wouldn't work.

Can't you do this with your EZ also...or did I miss your point?

From EZ literature...
Setting #1 = 33% of additional fueling @ 0 psi…….100% @ 20 psi
Setting #2 = 50% of additional fueling @ 0 psi…….100% @ 15 psi
Setting #3 = 67% of additional fueling @ 0 psi…….100% @ 10 psi

Thought the only difference was DDTFM had slightly less timing?

I agree with Phox...different programming...won't work.

Yes I guess you're right, I didn't realize the settings adjusted 100% fueling at higher and lower psi's. The DDTTM settings are setting #1 = timing only, setting #2 = 100% fuel at 20 PSI, setting #3 = 100% fuel at 3 PSI. With larger injector's I was looking at setting #2 which is EZ's setting #1.

It does have different programming? I wonder why? Injection pump is the same, is it the ECM?

Definitely in the electronics...but I could not tell you the specifics. Maybe someone else will chime in?

The connectirs are different, but I don't think the program is different. If so, why does Edge sell an adaptor to permit one model to be used in another truck?

I thought adaptor was for 2001 to 2002 and vice versa? Been away from this subject for some time...so may be wrong.

There are adapters that will mate an 01 to an 02 and vice versa. But I don't think you can adapt a 98.5-00 model to the later years or vice versa.

The 01 and 02 have identical MAP sensor voltages, but they use different connector shapes. THus, you can use the same programming, and just need a physical adaptation.

I was told that the MAP sensors on the earlier trucks have different voltages, and this needs different programming.

Of course, this was just rumor, and I'd REALLY like to see if confirmed by hard data

from a FSM.

The DDTTPM has slightly less aggressive timing, and this matches with bigger injectors just a little better.

James-- ever sell your TST box?

At least I didn't waste my time (and maybe my ECM) trying it. I appreciate the information.

Hohn,

I did sell the TST. I just got an email from him today, this is what he had to say. (Obviously he has twin turbos)

"I got the box on Friday and installed it over the weekend. It makes quite a difference. Up to the third level, it makes smooth power. From 4-9 the turbos spool insanely fast and it huffs them upon when the pedal pressure is reduced. I talked to Mark and he said this is normal. What's surprising is the Edge comp make 58lbs of boost on level 5/5. The TST comp on level 9 makes 80+ lbs of boost-tested it when the highway was damp-the tires broke loose at 70mph. I'll use it during play time - that's what I wanted it for. The truck runs great without a box-the TST is definitely the icing.
Thanks alot,"

Did you find your Van Aaken V5?
