Re:Diesel Additive

I've used gallons of MMO, and saw no difference in performance. After trying a lot of additives, I seemed to have settled on Howes Diesel Treatment. It's easily available at truck stops, and seems to give me about a 1-2 mpg difference than running with nothing.

Re:Diesel Additive

SilverDiesel...I have never tried Marvel Mystery OIl, anyone promoting a product with a name like that makes you want to know "what the mystery is all about"..
I started to use Howes Diesel Treatment, a few months ago, which I found at a local truck stop..I don't ever put anything in my fuel, except in the winter months to provide anti- gel problems..Anyway, while I was there getting fuel, I was looking for something to add to my fuel to clean, or says it will help clean injectors and decided on Howes...You have to understand, I have 4-sets of injectors, which I change out during the year, for various competition events. Anyway, after running Howes, I changed out my injectors, from DD2's to Mega Mentals.....WOW, the ones I took out looked almost brand new??? I kinda forgot about Howes and was using it regularly, approx. 3 oz. per fillup. Then last week, I took out my DD Mega Mentals, to try out some EDM's, and again I was blown away how the tips of the injectors were so clean. I'm am now sold on Howes, and will continue to use this product..I believe the price I paid for it was under $10 for a gallon. Still using the orginal gallon.

Re:Diesel Additive

Howes is the best I have found. Although Wildcat has some to I believe they found to work good. MMO is junk has no lubricating properties its just for removing carbon. They use it when you have a sticking valve in an airplane.

Your profile doesn't indicate where you're located, but any Petro or TA (Travel America will sell gallons of Howes Diesel Treatment. Check their web pages for a location neaest you.

Re:Diesel Additive

If I could find Stanadyne I would certainly try it, as it get a lot of praise. But even though the company is 50 miles from my house, their products are nowhere to be found around here.

Re:Diesel Additive

Commatoze, I order the Stanadyne Performance Formula from www.dieselpage.com They have the best price that I have found. About 1/2 of what the local distributor gets.
They also have a lubricity formula, and I think it's a little cheaper. I may check on using that, since the extra lubricity is really what I am most interested in. Don't really care about cetane, or freeezing here on the cold Gulf coast
wk

Re:Diesel Additive

Commatoze, I just check the site and cost for the lubricity formula is about $1.06, per tank and for the Performance formula is about $1.98 per tank.
I have emailed Stanadyne to get some info on the lubricity formula since I couldn't find it in there comparison tests.
wk

Re:Diesel Additive

Well, then you have to add the cost of shipping into the cost per tank too, don't you? I would imagine that 1 gallon (7 pounds) costs a few bucks to ship.

Re:Diesel Additive

Yes sir your right shipping would be extra. I paid 8.95 for for shipping and 4.00 for tax. About .50 per tank for the extra charges. 8) You prolly won't pay tax being out of state. ;D Still cheaper than I could get at the Stanadyne pump shop here in Houston.
hth
