Dealer warrantied VP with comp!!

Yep, no joke. My dad took his 04 to have a new water pump put on and he and the service manager were talking and my dad told him about the long start when the motor was hot and that he thought the pump was bad. So, the service managers says bring it in and well fix it. Dad goes on to tell him about the chip, injectors, vulcan kit, exhaust etc I had on the truck, service manager says, no problem bring it in. Well, I rolled over 100K on the way home for the x-mas break and he was cool with that too. He shaved about 300 miles off the invoice for me to get me under 100k. The invoice read 99984 miles and the OD read 100224 miles, super nice guy.

He called me the next business day about 2pm and said the truck was ready. I went to pick it up and he shows me the wire piercing from the comp and says he doesnt care about it but if cummins sees it they will have to bill me for the repair ($2500).

So, what are the chances cummins finds the piercing? I have no Idea.

To make a long story short, If any of you Texas guys need any warranty work done and have some mods PM me where to take it.

Hope cummins doesnt look at my VP44

There's inside words and outside words.

It's not Cummins that you or the dealer has to worry about, since Cummins doesn't warrant the engine. Rather, it's DC's STAR group that will be looking for the tapped wire.

Better get your checkbook ready. DC will bill the dealer, who will bill you. You may want to edit your first post as well.

Hmmm.....I'm assuming there is no chance whatsoever that anyone on or viewing this forum works for STAR. Haha, oops! Quick before they look change the name of the dealer!

I'd just about be willing to bet that your dealer wound up eating the parts and labor.

Is it easy for the dealer to test one? Is the test reliable? And do you think they'd cover the test if milage isn't over 100K? I think mine may be on the blink now...after trying everything else in the dang book....after 95K and moderate mods.

Is your wire tapped? if so they probley won't talk warrenty with you. AS for the test, I think I read where they can be tested, but most just go by the codes that the ecm picks up
