custom exhaust
custom exhaust
I'm thinking of installing a custom exhaust to my truck. A local guy here is a real artist when it comes to custom bends. I'm thinking of putting duals on. But not straight out the back. Run the pipes right behind the rear tires, then straight down. So you only see about 4-6" of chrome tip below the fender line on either side of the truck. Kinda hidden.
The biggest pipe that will fit between the fender and the spare tire is 2.5". I won't be able to run anything larger. Will this be a problem with flow or EGT's? It will be 3" underneath before the axle, then Y'ed and 2.5 to tails.

Thanks for your help

Re:custom exhaust
There is someone in our area that did custom exhaust(something he did in shop class) it comes off the turbo and goes about half way underneath the cab and then Y's off and ends up right at the end of the cab. Doesnt sound good at all.
Someone should talk to that boy!

Re:custom exhaust
I have a quad cab one ton and did just what you are talking about. I had the Muffler and resinator removed and put about a two foot piece of straight pipe in and then a y pipe made out of three inch pipe and then put three inch tails coming out behind the wheels, out the side. The three inch pipe well fit it is just a little tight. I think I have about a quarter inch to maybe a half inch between my spare and the pipe. Somewhere around 30k and no problems, I want to get the four inch pipe put on from the turbo back to my y pipe, but I haven't got around to it yet.
Good luck,
Heath

P.S. paid $350 to get all of that done at local exhaust shop with a pair of 5" $80 chrome tips, not too loud running down the road untill you get on it. Just right :

Yeah exactly, but I'm going to aim mine straight down. So you only see like half of the tips. A semi-hidden exhaust!

Your 4" is on the new body style, right?

I don't really know why I was told only 2.5. 3 will fit with the right bends. hum??

Thanks for the replies guys , I post some pics when I get this done.
Re:custom exhaust
What do you mean? I have 3" duals with 4" tips and have plenty of room for my spare. I have the standard bed. Here's what mine looks like:
http://www.cardomain.com/id/rattlindodge
