Cummins Quick Check II
Cummins Quick Check II
Well, it's been about a month since I got this thing and still no instructions on how to hook it up from the people that sold it to me. They say they can not tell me and that I have to go to the dealer and get them to show me where to hook it up. Like they're going to show me!! :
:
The set up and users manual has no instructions whatsoever to tell me how to hook it up so I can read the codes. Anyone else out there use this thing yet?
I went over to a friends house this morning and we looked high and low for a connection that looked even close to the connectors that come with this junk both on the truck (his and mine) and in the service manual. The only connection that even comes close to having the same plug is called a Cummins Bus and right now, that connector is plugged up to my Edge box so I don't know if that's it or not.
Needless to say, I am not impressed so far with my $310 investment from the big C. More to follow.

Re:Cummins Quick Check II
On my 2002 it is under the dash, to the left of the tranny hump.
Kinda looks like a female computer com port on steroids.
That is the connection the Dealer hooks their DRB to, and the one I hooked a Superchips Tuner to this afternoon.
(it can read codes, as well as add up to 80 ponies, doing a try and maybe buy deal,
dang drug dealers anyway
)

I know where that port is but it is not the one this junk I bought uses. This one hooks up under the hood somewhere but the thing doesn't say where.
That tuner you got sounds pretty sweet, you got any info on that you would like to share?

Re:Cummins Quick Check II
DieselDude, are you sure they didnt make a mistake and not give you the adapter you need? Different applications use different plugs. For instance, all Freightliners with the ISB etc. use the round 9 pin J1939 plug. I would call Cummins and ask them what plug is used with the Dodge.
Re:Cummins Quick Check II
I ordered the kit especially for the 99 Cummins. One of the connectors under the hood, that Cummins Bus, is the same connector that is on the QC II but I want to make double sure before I hook it up and smoke something.
