You should have more smoke and it really does pull better...the EZ works so good you just don't feel much additional kick in the seat with the wire connected.
They say better injectors helps solve that though.
Your fuel pressure guage should show lower fuel pressure on 5x5 too.

Well, I have to disagree that you don't feel much extra "kick" with the wire tapped!

I suppose these things are open to interpretation but FWIW, I noticed a MAJOR change in power from EZ to 5x5! There was simply no comparison in power gains on my 98.5.

Well now I have to be sure that what I said is what happened to me...I'll unplug the wire and make a coupla shots at the steep test hill here then plug it back in and make another shot 'er 2...ya know, jes' to be sure.
I really don't need much reason ta play with my truck, any reason's good for me..lol.

Posted this in another thread this morning.

Edge advertises the following gains for the Comp

................+ HP...............+ TQ

Level 1........40..................150

Level 2........60..................200

Level 3........80..................250

Level 4........100................300

Level 5........120................350

For comparison, my '99 dyno'ed @ ~190 hp stock at the rear wheels.

The difference between the +150 tq EZ setting and the +350 tq
with the Comp on level 5 should be VERY noticable.
I've only been to level 4 a few times....it's nothing like the EZ power.

The HEMI is advertised at 375 tq TOTAL.
So it's like adding a Hemi afterburner to the Cummins torque.

Let me throw this in... There IS bad Comps out there! I had a friend that thought his comp was ok but not as good as expected and wouldn't you know it. Plugged in a different one from a different truck that ran good AND he was all smiles. Edge did make it right.

This has had me wondering..... How many people have edge comps that are unknowingly missing 75 horse or so?

Well, jes' made the test on 5x5,
without the wire, 32lbs. max boost, 11 psi lift pump fuel press,86 mph.
with the wire , 37lbs.max boost, 9psi lift pump fuel press, 93 mph.
without the comp I generally get 24 psi max boost and 13 psi lift pump press.
I still get more punch from no comp to comp wo/wire that from comp wo/wire to comp w/wire.

Something's not right.
Either the wiring isn't correct, or the box is defective.

EZ mode to Comp level 3 on my truck is a "night and day" difference.

That doesn't make sense!!
37lbs boost on 5x5 is very good
stock is 24lbs.
you are seeing a big differance!

That's what I'm saying, if stock to comp-ez 5x5 is 10, then comp-ez 5x5 to comp w/wire 5x5 is maybe 5 more for a total of 15. If there's supposed to be a big-big power boost from EZ to connecting the wire, maybe the HO's have smaller injectors that don't squirt good. I'll check my wastegate tomorrow.
I really don't feel bad about it. Ol'92 maxed the same hill at 77mph , same with the wife's '97 Bravada. Wish I'd made a shot at that hill years ago with my '74 V8 Vega

If you're not seeing a big differance, unplug the wire at the injection pump and see if you have 12 volts there when you turn the key on. If not you have the wrong wire pierced. I just helped my buddy install a comp and we still managed to pierce the wrong wire and I've even hooked up Comps before! It run good but not as expected, it run better each time you increased from 1-5. Now with the correct wire tapped it is a hugh differance. But if you're seeing 37 boost you surely have the correct wire tapped? Thats about the most you'll get from you're truck.
