Comp and codes

Was shutting down the truck the other day and noticed that my comp box was seized up, I couldn't adjust the levels or turn it off. I checked for codes and got these:
P0500 No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal
P1693 DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM

I didn't notice anything strange while driving it, and after I turned the truck off and turned the key back on the comp was back to normal. Any ideas what happened? Does anyone know what caused the P0500?

Re:Comp and codes

Been roasting tires lately? I get those two codes when I put on a smoke show. They seem to reset themselves after a few startups. As for the comp being screwy, did you check your codes before you noticed the box being screwy. If I check for codes and then start my truck up without turning it back off first, the box stays "frozen" until I turn it off.

Take care
Mark

Re:Comp and codes

I have had my drag comp for about a year now. It did that "freeze" thing to me once, reset when I turned the key off, and has not done it since. On mine, level 1, 3, and 5 were lit up, and I could not adjust it or turn it on/off.

Thanks Mark, that's gotta be what it was! I spun the tires for the first time ever last weekend, then on Monday when I parked the truck I noticed that the comp was frozen on level one. I couldn't turn it off or adjust levels. I shut the truck off, then checked for codes and got the 0500; thought the codes were comp-related, but that must have been from the weekend when I was spinning the tires. Thanks again; now if I could just figure out why the comp froze. BTW, after I turned the truck off and turned the key back on, the comp was fine and has been fine since.

Re:Comp and codes

Mine was freezing all the time then I just turned the key off and restarted and all was well. Sent it out for the Drag Race upgrade and the new firmware no tests yet.
