clutch replacement

It's time to replace my clutch. The throw out bearing is making a little squeak now and then. What should I expect to pay for a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing? Should I put a heavy duty clutch and plate in? Here in Hawaii I am restricted to NAPA and my Dodge dealer for parts. I would like to change the plate in the pump so should go to a heavier duty I suppose. Suppliers on line that anyone likes?

New clutch

I guess I could just wondered what everyone was using and approximate cost. I used to live in Fresno so if I still lived there then this would not such an issue. I guess you have been getting the water this year.

Depending on the kind of power you are going to make, the NAPA clutches are good. My buddy put one in his 95, and it was supposedly a "heavy duty" NAPA clutch. He has a fuel plate, 3k GSK, and 370 injectors, and its holding great so far. Im sure it will eventually slip with the way he drives it, but i am REALLY impressed by that clutch so far. He is always hammering on it, and doing burnouts, and power braking it, and stuff, and he hasnt had it that long, but it doesent slip any yet. Seems to be a great clutch. I MIGHT be able to get the part # if you're interested.

Don't walk away from a centerjunk RUN!!

I'm sure if Dodgeman01 reads this thread he will chime in. He had a Dual Friction centerjunk for about a month before it started slipping. He has a small 160 pump 5spd 94 2500, and at the time it only had Bosch 300 injectors & a #10 plate. The centerjunk Co. said "TOUGH!"

There's only one clutch in our (mine & Aaron's) eyes now-a-days......South Bend!

my south bend holds awsome in 5x5 at 50 pounds of boost. have had it for about year now. But the normal second gear launch can be kinda jerky.

LUK Corporation, cerrametallic upgrage clutch. Part #05-117. Holds 1,000 Ft*Lbs and costs $546, its all brand new and is made by an actual clutch manufacturing company, not a rebuilding company.

Whooops, just noticed you have a 96' sorry.... dont think that part # will work.... yours is a 5 speed isnt it?? If so, No good deal with LUk, since you have to buy a new 13" flywheel to go with the cerrametallic and that makes the cost prohibitive ($989 total)......

oh wait .....thats still $200 cheaper than a 13.25" con OFE with flywheel exchange.... Well If you dont EVER tow more than 8,000 Lbs though, (who doesn't and owns a CTD I am not sure..) they say you can get a 12.25" Con O for $648 using your stock flywheel.........hummmmmm ...... isnt that just cute..... whatever...

Sorry, I know we are confusing you now.... Let us know what you do with your truck, how you drive it and what future mods you may make to it to help us help you..
