clutch problems

i've had the clutch for a year now no problems and have never towed or pulled. last night the clutch began sticking. i came up to a light had it in 2nd gear went to take off and the truck jumped foward and stalled.i was unable to to get the truck out of gear while the engine was running and when i had the pedal pushed all the way down it still wanted to take off. i had to shut the truck off and hit the pedal real fast to get it to come back up then it would drive fine. there is nothing wrong with the pedal it works fine i'm thinking it's the hydraulics anyone have any ideas

you need a clutch slave/master cylinder, just gets weak & won't keep the clutch from engaging, if you get in a bad spot you can kill the motor & start it back with the tranny in gear, but you should just need the slave cylinder, & it comes from DC as a whole unit slave & master cylinder & it's already primed & full of fluid, on the downside I think they run about $250-$300, not a hard fix though, Dusty

I agree with dusty I havn't had this problem yet on my dodge but sounds just like what my toyota did years ago, and it was a bad slave cylinder

been there...had mine go out the same way...was fine then all the sudden i had no pedal pressure and it wouldnt disengage the clutch at all

go to dodge and get the entire sealed master/slave cylinder and put it on...i think mine was less than $200 for the whole set-up.

If it still feels like your pedal is working with the right pressure than I doubt it is your hydraulics.
It sounds more like you have a spot of built up clutch material on one of your flywheel faces and it will not let the clutch disk dis-engage completely (ie sticking).

I had this happen back when I was running a non-inserted flywheel with my dual disc.

When I had this happen, the clutch pedal maintained all of its pressure for the most part. It did act a little funny a couple of times though.
The hydraulics were fine.

Let us know either way!

yup hydraulics are bad. sorry i dont have a part number for you

when mine went the pedal had very little pressure and would go to the floor then would take forever to come back up and it would never disengage the clutch.

You could check with Peter at South Bend on this too. From what I understand they have a heavy duty slave cylinder for about the same price as the OE unit. Might even be less.

Or the pilot bearing is shot. It can either freeze to you pilot shaft or drop pieces down between the disk and flywheel/pressure plate. I parked the truck with no issues. Started up and pulled fwd 10 feet and couldn't stop. South bend seels a kevlar replacement and Quad 4x4 sells a couple Sealed Ball bearing ones.

i ordered the heavy duty hydraulics from southbend for $200 hopefully this will fix the problem. i can't imagine it being the the clutch it has less than 15,000 miles on it. i'd rather start from the outside and work my way in.

it's fixed the hydraulics were the problem. now i have another small problem the master cylinder isn't locking in like it's suppose to. it locks in and won't pull straight out, but is pretty loose and wiggles back and forth
