Clutch Disk
I burned up a Luk Pro Gold clutch, and I honestly cannot make this Valair clutch slip. Even when I street race with nitro methane, 315's, 2nd gear starts with 3.73 gears. My truck is not a horsepower giant though. Valair specializes in ac compressor clutches. They have expanded their operations to medium duty truck clutches, and Dodge Ram Cummins clutches. Dan the owner helped me out in a bind over the Holidays. Other than that, I have nothing to gain from promoting them, just think it is a great product, great value. South Bend is overpriced, Valair will chew their prices down in time, good for all of us manual guys.
I'd say a South Bend OFE would be great for you. The SouthBends come with a 3400# pressure plate but where rated with a lighter pressure plate. I have an OFE in my truck right now and it holds what you see in my sig.
it's just as smooth as stock, but holds like crazy. Southbend is second to none when it comes to clutches. JMHO.

Yes, go with Southbend. It will really be the last clutch you have to buy. If you EVER have a problem, they'll take care of you. It may be a little more pricey, but the customer service is like none other. SBC is the only clutch I'd go with. Plus they are way under rated. I'm running over 500hp and my OFE and it's still holding on but does have an occational slip, but thats because I'm running way more power than it's rated at. But I have been amazed how great this clutch holds on. My next one will be a SBC Dual Disk.
They are right, if you pay more, you get more quality. I don't care what you buy, just if you are thrifty, don't spend the bucks. If you are going to keep that truck forever and end up upgrading it more and more, go with the SB. No doubt it is a better clutch, just is it the best value? Your choice. For what you said, in your situation, I would go with a less expensive clutch and buy your wife some 300 dollar earrings instead.
