Which chip do I want?

I've done a lot of research learning about every chip, tuner, programmer, and the characteristics of each. I'm still not sure what i want. I have a 2001 3/4 ton shortbed 24 valve with auto tranny buildup, afe intake, and 4 " exhaust. I want in the 100+horse range 250+torque. I can get any chip within $50 of any other. Any ideas? I'm looking towards tst powermax, edge comp, dr performance predator but still considering most. Any opionions would be great.

thanks

From what i have read on here the Smarty is going to be the one to get.
I might sell my Comp and get one.

Well thats a good list to choose from.

The Edge Comp and TST are modules and will add power differently than the Predator programmer. I guess it all depends on how you want your power. With a box/module or with a downloaded program into your trucks computer.

Either one will do what you want and need. We sell lots of Edge and Predator. I like the Edge because you could stack it with a programmer later on if its not enough.

Just a thought and good luck with your upgrade!

The edge comp will adjust the timing and add fuel
Tst adds fuel, but has no timing- which is why this is often stacked with something with timing: smarty/edge ez/ Van aakins
Dr Performance- no clue

Smarty is a new programmer coming out- which was been availible as ecms known as the catcher. It won't add as much power as tst or comp because it doesn't tap the wire on your injector pump. The Smarty will make a huge difference in how the truck drives and lets you use as much fuel as the pump is designed to deliver. You'd see greatly improved responsiveness, all ecm defueling is eliminated, adjustability, code reader, cold weather high idle enabled,... Smarty is the only one of these I have personal experience with.

Welcome to the DTR! Please fill in Signature with truck specifics... so we can give informed answers. Need more info on "built tranny".

As stated above, the Smarty won't give you the 100 hp/ 250 tq you seek. But I'd bet it will give you the feel you are looking for.

If you wanted more, later on, the Smarty stacks very well with the TST PM3 and you'll have all the HP you can ever use... for daily driving, or playing hard on the street, at least!

Most who get the Smarty will end up driving around town with the TST box turned way down... or off. At least that's how it turned out with the MAD ECM (the first generation Smarty).

Good luck!

I love my Edge EZ, RV275 injector upgrade. Good towing power. Check the classifieds here. You might find a deal on a "pre owned" unit. I got my EZ off of Ebay a few years ago for $125.00. Right place at the right time.

I've tried them all and the catcher was by far the best mod I ever tried. Go with the smarty and You will never be dissapointed. If You decide You need More later on, then You can add injectors, stack with tst, and on to twins if You have very deep pockets and want more power than You could ever use on the street. I wish I would have ask more questions and looked at what others were having the best luck with before I started, I would have saved A fortune.
