Cheap Air Filter For A 98 12 Valve ????

My grandfather has a 98 12V 4x4 dually. I am a lot more familiar with a 7.3 ford than his 98 12V. I know on a Ford we ran a filter called a 6637 which is reall a HUGE air filter for somwe type of Dodge motor. Thay worked grat and they weer only like $40 or so. Do you guys have anything like that for the 98 12 valves? It looks like I could just take out that factory air box and slide a big filter over the pipe if I knew what would fit.
Thanks

Napa 2790 - more commonly referred to as a BHAF (Big Honkin Air Filter)...Its ok on a stock truck, but with lots of mods, you will likely want to go to something a little better.

You can use a chuck of 4" ABS pipe to attach the filter to. You can download and make yourself a heat shield as well:

Heres a couple of pics:

He only has some type of spacer mod from BullyDog that really helped his take off but He is running the stock air-box. do you think this filter will be any better that the box? Also, do you have to have the heat shield, the 4" pvc, and the filter cover?
Thanks

I personally dont feel the the stock air box seals well - just my personal opinion.

No, you dont need the prefilter but it will make the filter last MUCH longer.

No, you dont necessarily need the heat shield - but its a good idea, IMO.

No, you dont have to use the PVC - but why not? I have heard of filters coming off the hose. The PVC would cost a coulpe of bucks (at most) so why wouldnt you use it?

So you would rather have this a stock box right? Also, if where could I find the pre-filter? Without the pre-filter, could you still go 10-20k miles?
Thanks for the help

Personally, yes...but like I said before, there are better options out there. For example, you can get an AEM Dryflow for about the same price and its washable (non oiled). Theres no need to be throwing out filters.

Right here: http://www.outerwearsracing.com/ just tell them its for a NAPA 2790 and pick the color you want.

Yes, and you could probably gently blow the dust out with an airhose.
