Bypass Filter Feed

Is there a way to feed a bypass filter without an adapter on the stock oil filter location?

I see there is a port on top of the filter mount. Can I tap into there?

My 05 has a 1/8 port on the top of the oil filter housing.

yours might too... If not you can tap into the oil psi sender/switch with a "T"

Yeah, just tap in above the oil filter. A 1/8" male NPT barb should do it. That's what I did. I also suggest putting the snubber there as well. That way IF you get a leak or a hose pops off, the rate at which you'll lose oil will be much less than if you had the snubber elsewhere. What bypass filter did you get?

I saw some items on ebay that will allow you to run just the bypass and not the full flow filter. You dont need any adapter, just hook it up in line like any other bypass filter tapping off your existing filter mount like stated above. The amsoil replacements are in the ballpark of $40-$50 and the mount is about $40 not including pluming and fittings. I dont see why this wouldnt work as well as any other. I personally am looking at a Frantz filter because of the inexpensive replacement filters (TP).

I would NOT ditch the full flow filter. Frantz is the best filtration, but you have to change it often. So if you put a lot of miles on your truck, Amsoil may be a better choice. The mount you're talking about works just fine. I believe it comes with a snubber too.

How much makeup oil does a Frantz take?? I only ask because I bet you exceed the cost of an amsoil filter in oil makeup.... I would guess a quart? At 20K a year thats 13 changes of the TP (1500 miles right?) thats more than $100 in the oil I run, or 3 of the EaBP 110 filters, which filter extremely well.

I have the setup for just a bypass... looks like this.

I had hoses made locally and have a total of about $215 into the setup, including the filter, plus $40 for the custom skid.....

^That's a sweet install you got there. I'd say the Frantz takes 1/2 quart to 1 quart of make up oil max. I change it every 4-5000 miles.
