BOX or INJECTORS?
Trying to decide between a edge ez OR a set of injectors (w/boost fooler) is the way to go with my TOWING setup. I'm thinking of just doing the injectors, which would be the 'safest' way to go. Being your just adding fuel and leaving the pump alone. I'm due for a valve adjustement anyway. Thoughts or suggestions?
No hot rodding, already have one of those (sig).

The EZ is certainly the most simple add on to install and can be bypassed quickly if the extra power is not wanted.....personally, I would not bother with the EZ....I would just get the Comp. For not much more money you get a much larger power increase and the ability to tune the box to what ever power and smoke level you want on the fly.....and with the push of a button you can turn it off. What injectors were you considering?
The chevy is paid for and I drive 120+ miles a day, I'd rather wear it out and save my dodge for towing. Its easier to get around in our parking garage also. And if someone steals it, it won't hurt so much. Still a good looking daily driver.
CTD NUT I'm a bit old school when it comes to making power. More air/fuel in more power out. I like the idea to just changing the injectors to add power. I was thinking the rv275's, but If I just do injectors, I may step it up a bit. Maybe i'm wrong here, but I don't think playing with the injection pump timing is the way to go. But this is just my thought. My main concern is Looong term reliability.

Hey 67... I want to go the same route as you, I'm thinking about skipping a box, and getting injectors...
As to which ones, I want bigger than 275s... Thinking Mach 1.5 and a bost elbow and fooler.

There is no evidence the EZ shortens the life or reliability of the CTD. The low end performance gain, for towing, is a bigger plus, IMO, than you will see with the injectors. And you get the added advantage of more air from the boost fooler.
If your totally adverse to changing the timing...I would add a TST box before I did injectors only. It's actually designed for stock injectors, no timing change, and gives you 9 settings (15 hp @) to play with.

I was running an ez and 275's up until just the other day. It is a great combo. The 275's are a nice little boost nothing extreme though. The ez added more power for sure however it is not as smooth as 275's alone are. You can feel when the ez kicks in its fueling. With the 275's or any other injector for that matter you might want to have some sort of boost fooler so that you can increase your boost over stock without throwing a code (most boxes include the boost fooler). Since this is for your tow vehicle you will see a decrease in egts at higher boost. I did not notice any increase in power with the higher boost just cooler egts at the upper end. I have had the ez on for about 150k and then added the 275's about 80k ago. With the ez and 275's I dynoed right at 300hp up here at 6k elevation. I am not against comps at all but the ez (and several others) or the Catcher ECM keep the fueling within the vp44 design parameters as opposed to the boxes like the comp that tap the pump wire.
Just the other day I pulled the ez and installed one of Marco's Catcher ECMs. It takes a bit of getting used to but it is smoother than the ez and the response is incredible. It doesnt add much if any more power than the ez but the modified fueling map sure does make a difference in how it drives. It seems to spool up much faster than stock or with an ez.
Having driven both just the ez with stock injectors and just 275's with no ez (just playing around and checking things out) I would say box first then injectors. But would recommend both.

I agree with Barry, after running the EZ + 275 combo, Marco's ECM is a big improvment in drivability. The power increase v.s. the EZ might be about the same, but with the way the fueling curve is set up the power delivery is in a whole different league. I'm seeing 2 more psi of boost with the ECM over the EZ. Just be carefull in the rain.
