i notice that they have a boost builder for the 01 trucks and a boost fooler for 03 and up. do these do the same things for the different models

 

Where did you see a "boost builder" for the '01?

Technically, all a boost fooler does is intercept the signal from the MAP sensor and trim the signal voltage sent to the ECM. The causes the ECM to see no more than the stock max boost, while you are actually making higher than stock numbers. If the ECM saw the higher boost reading, it would throw a code.

The only way to build additional boost is to add more fuel. Most fueling boxes included a boost fooling feature, but they do make stand-alone boost fooling boxes for guys running just larger injectors or other mods without electronic fueling enhancement.

 

extreme diesel sells a bd turbo boost builder that's what i was talking about don't know if that's the same thing your talking about or not.

 

Looks just like a boost fooler. Probably just marketing it with different terminology as not everyone understands what a "fooler" is supposed to do, but a "builder" sounds good.
