Bombing 101

Just bought a 97 CTD 4WD with 51K
I wouldn't mind spending $1000-1500 on it to soup it up a little
I would like to hear the turbo whistle a little more and get a little more gitty up out of her.

It just had a brand new automatic tranny put into it before I bought it and I really dont want to destroy it. So I dont want to go to overboard with the mods.

I am assuming that a new exhaust would get the turbo whistle I am looking for.
But as far as adding power where should I start?

Turbo whistle is free. Take the intake hose off the turbo, there's a sheetmetal ring in the inlet called a silencer ring. Use a couple small screwdrivers to remove the snap ring that holds the silencer ring, and you have turbo whistle in 5 minutes for no $$$.

I'm sure others with much more experience will offer good sugestions to you but my most recent addition was 3K-GSK,ie governor springs. Check the links , Pier's has them on sale for $100. This is a cheap big bang for the buck.

#10 plate, 3k GSK, Scotty intake, and 4 inch exhaust. She will breathe and scoot, and whistle all you want after those mods
