BHAF vs homebrew idea

BHAF vs homebrew idea
I thought about cutting a 3" hole in my cowl in scotty location and plumbing it into my airbox via 3" pvc into amsoil nano dropin filter, or would I just be better off with a BHAF?

Just my 2 cents- but I think the airbox itself is going to limit flow volume, not so much the filter in it. I have a K&N Drop in- It'll pass more air then I could ever hope to get into the stock airbox......
