BHAF Installment

Just installed BHAF air filter NAPA 2790 with heat shield. The air intake is making a thumping sound, is that normal?

Also wondering about water intake due to rain. Live in Southeast Alaska, it's a very wet climate. Is rainsplash and mist enough to saturate the air filter and allow water into turbo?

Thanks for the template, it worked!!!!

Check out this thread for link and part number for a water resistant pre filter.

As to the thumping, I haven't experienced it myself, but have heard of others describing the same thing.

I have the thumping too. I wouldn't worry about it. I believe it is just harmonic resonance due to the mauch larger internal chamber inside the filter. As for the water and the filter go. I was transfered to Guam last summer. It rains a lot here. I mean a lot. My filter is just fine. Kinda dirty. I am replacing mine soon.

Are you talking about the thumping that you get after you let off the gas really quick at a higher RPM? If so, that is normal, my mechanic buddies tell me that its the difference in air speed being thrown into and from the turbo

If it's a metallic sound then the heat shield could be hitting against the upper shock bolt. I slipped a short section of rubber fuel tubing over the top to provide some cushioning. Mine would rattle from the shaking when I shut off the engine.
