BHAF heat sheild

I read a thread about a heat sheild for a BHAF set up a while back so I went to the tech facts section and printed out the template for it. It just so happens that I am on the expansion job at the Palms hotel and casino here in Vegas. The kitchen equipment guys were tearing out an old serving line in the employee dinning hall and I asked if he was going to trash the equipment. He said he would have to cut up the equipment to get it out of the building so yeah it was trash. The top was a heavy gauge stainless sheet about 2.5 feet wide and about 8 feet long so I asked him if I could have it and he said take what you want. Cool!

The next day an iron worker buddy of mine came over for some help installing gauges in his 2001 ctd. He saw the stainless and asked what was up. I filled him in and of course he wants one for his rig too! We printed 3 templates and he took it to his shop and cut 3 heat sheilds out of the sheet. Then he took it to the sheet meatal guys and they bent them for us. We ended up with 3 complete set ups for the best price of all FREE! Cool huh? It pays to have friends in low places! LOL

Cool!!! what a deal. My brother-in-law is a sheet metal worker, so my heat shield cost me a large bag of peanut M & M's.

If you hear a rattle, it might be the heat shield & the top of the shock. I ended up drilling a hole in the heat shield, bigger than the top of the shock ... fixed.

I had great luck myself, I came accross a 5x8 sheet of .125 stainless the other day. The day AFTER I got finished with the mild steel one I had the materials for. Oh well. Worked out good anyways.. May give the steel one to the bro-in-law for his service truck. That and a filter would make a great CHRISTmas gift.
