beefing up tranny

how do you know if your tranny is in good enough shape to up grade the vb and tc. my tranny has never been over 180-190 degrees but has a bad tc shudder and slips out of gear when accelerating some times have I done to much damage or would it be solid with a goerend tc and vb

How many miles? if it is slipping that is a bad sign.

off hand when it down shifts from 3rd to 2nd it will grab then let go then grab again and it will let loose in second @ about 30-40 when accelerating but only with the comp on like 3 or higher when hauling 3-4,000lbs running empty or with the comp off it is fine

you would need to just rebuild the whole trans which would be a extreme rebuild kit clutches steels seals, new valve body, new converter,+ labor would be close to 3500 if your gonna do do it right the first time and not have to worry about it later, spend a couple extra dollars so it will handle the power

Call Dave at Goerend Bros. Ask him what to do. Thats what I did. Mine would only slip under lockup or anytime the comp was over 3x5. Now its fine with 147 on the clock. Ask him price on trans and converter if you want to go that route. By the way im in Rising Sun Cecil County.
