Ok the starter goes round and round and then a click, round and round and click. So I replace the batteries and in doing so the cables look pretty haggard. I go to the dodge parts website to price them and they are about $110-$200 a cable *** !?!. Can the experienced CTD's tell me where I can find cheap good cables that fit our trucks?

 

Cheap and Good that's like a contradiction isn't it? You might check on line or have some made. You could use some welding lead and solder lugs where needed.

They sell quality welding lead and cable, made in the U.S.A, you could get a couple feet of this in red/black for $3-4/foot. Don't know if they have a minimum order though.

 

I just redid all of my battery cables. Its not cheap. The site I got alot of my stuff from is http://custombatterycables.com/appli.../dodge_ram.htm. I made my own. I didnt buy the ones they make. I have military terminals. They are alot better than the stock junk. Its really not that hard if you have a few tools and some mechanical knowledge. My stockers lasted almost 10 years so i cont complain. The new stuff will for sure be on truck till the end. I can easily replace the clamps without doing the whole cable now. Thats what was wrong with my stock cables the ends wouldnt tighten anymore from years of tightening and loosening. After doing this I did realize it may be possible to only get new ends, solder new ends on them and use military style terminal clamps. That would be the cheapest way for sure. Maybe 50.00 total. All you would need would be 4 military teminal ends, the new ends for your stock battery cables, solder plugs for the ends, and heat shrink tubing. I can post some pics if you wanna see what they look like. You will have to remove the cables to install the ends but thats not hard. When I did mine I cut all the battery terminals off and the cables were actually in great shape. I kept the old stuf just incase. Hope this helps

 

Oh for sure this helps. I would like to see the pictures. My terminals are almost shot. The coaxial on the wires is haggard, burnt black, and chipping aways from the wire where it meets the terminal. I also do not know what a military terminal looks like. What size wire did you use to replace factory. I have read multiple threads but do not remember the size. 2 gauge? I think I am going to make my own.
