Banks/Pacbrake one in the same?

My truck came with an exhaust brake already installed. The receipts show its a Banks brake, but it had some stickers that said it was a Pacbrake? What gives? I love it.

Banks and Pac are two different brands and look different. Banks is considerably more expendsive. Bank brakes just became available for Dodges a little over a year ago. Banks brake is clearly labeled.

Mine does say Banks on the canister similar to your picture except it is silver and font is black, I just thought maybe they rebadged the pacbrakes. Thanks for the reply.

I've had a Banks brake for 2 1/2 years on mine.

It's not worth the extra bucks though.

It works fine but it's no stronger than the Jacobs as asvertised.

Two and a half years? Guess time flies when you're having fun, I could have sworn it was much later.
One definite advantage of the Banks, so they say, is that it doesn't carbon up and require cleaning. My B-D needs it a couple times a year.

If the Banks holds up to the claims they make about not sticking I would have bought one. Problem is it wasn't available back then. It really sucks when my B-D hangs up when I really need it towing a big load.
Another consideration, if I'm not mistaken Pac is the only one where you don't have to switch to heavier valve springs on your '95.

What does this do? I have a 2001 auto and do not tow that often. Would I see any benifits?

I use mine all the time so I haven't had a prob. with sticking.
i did how ever have to have the head [ or accuater ] replaced under warrenty.
I hope this one lasts longer than the first.
Also the banks does open you up to 4 in. straight out of the turbo.

I have the PacBrake and love it. A friend of mine recently added a Banks unit to his truck and I like some of the operational features better. His is set up to kick out when you stop. Mine is engaged at idle all the time unless I turn it off. I also like the 4" downpipe connector. The PacBrake is 3.5"

I have the Banks brake. When I bought it they didn't sell me a smart lock with it. So it really didn't hold back much. Last month I had my trany upgraded to a dtt with a smart controller to lock up the torque converter. Now that brake works great pulling my 32ft 5vr.

If your not going to tow much I wouldn't spend the $$. If the brake isn't used properly it can do damage to your trany.
