Uh oh-- trouble in paradise? Sounds like it could have been ugly, in which case I want to stay far away from that!
It's too bad-- I heard a lot of good things for a long time about the turbos and Kurt.

"I'm about to find out about the KSB-1. Been told by B-1 experts that I'll drop 100-200* EGT's and spoolup will be hardly any different with big enough injectors. Was also told I could loose 100 rpm max on spoolup as my injectors are borderline to "big enough"."
How did the swap work out?
Was there a drop in egts and did spool up lag much more?
TIA

Love the difference!
Turns out combo of my box and Mach 2's is more than enough...lost almost no spoolup. I really can't tell the difference!
EGT's dropped 50-100* which was 1) not what I was hoping for...and 2) not the whole story. I can still hit 1500* on #7 through #9 setting on my PM3 but big difference is in how long it takes to get there. Doesn't run at 1500* in 1/4 mile (on #9) for more than 5-6 sec. This allowed me to try full out test at drag strip (95.41 mph) which puts me at somewhere around 450 - 475 hp. This is upper limit for KSB-1, so it turns out I was fairly heavy on fuel before I switched turbos.
I can still pull 50 psi boost (42 psi at 6000")
I feel the KSB-1 is as good as it gets for a single turbo on an automatic with 100+ hp injectors and an Edge Comp or a PM3. You would still have serious EGT problems with Drag Comp or Comp PM3, IMO.
Full B-1 has been proven way to laggy with an Auto, at least for good street manners, which is what I am unwilling to give up. Not sure how they are on stick shifts or at altitude.
I have gained new appreciation for what Rod said above in this thread..It really is a balancing act to match turbos with fueling/altitude/HP/towing, etc.!
Hope this helps.

George & anyone else interested
Dynoed The KSB-1 today. made 460.2 HP & 980.4 Ft/lbs Torque with configuration in my signature.
So Rod's lattest figure of 450 hp for KSB-1 is right on for excellent street manners.

OK...you brains...
Here is one for ya....
2001 4X4 ATS 91% convertor,TST PowerMax3 w/ remote,EDM Mach 2.5 injectors...Mad ECM
Which turbo to keep it cooled down?????? I have went thru this thread and have seen a lot of great information...but I'm looking for a point blank answer..
Is this setup toooooooooooooooo warm for a single which means I need to hang a set of twins..
What do you think???
Thanks
Rick

What is too warm? Under normal driving and towing most of the guys trucks that I have set up use a B-1-2 and are happy. But if you are saying that you want to be able to tow with your foot on the floor and the box set to kill then you will probably have egt issues even with twins.

Assuming your MAD ECM turns your TST PM3 into at least a Comp PM3, I would say you will be two hot with anything less than a Full B-1.
My KSB-1, which is now 1 under the Full B-1 will hit 1500* on 8 or 9 on my EZ/PM3...with 2.0's from Don M, at WOT. I get 1450* on #7 if I stay on it for more than 10 sec.
With your set up, a full B-1 would probable show 30-40 more HP over your present turbo.

PS, Sorry, didn't realize you were not asking about the truck in your signature. for the 2001 Auto, I have been told to stay away from full B-1...way too laggy on auto trannys. Think your stuck with the new KSB-1, a little on the hot side, or twins.

If there is no more fuel...just brought in sooner, than it works a little like an edge EZ, but stronger...thus similar to my set up. If your 2.5's are from last year...suspect they are very similar to the new 2.0's.
If truly interested in KSB-1...pm me your e-mail and I'll forward all my test results from the KSB-1. Tested fairly extensively to compare to the KSB-1-2 that I had before.
With an HX-35/16 now, you would see a BIG difference going to a KSB-1...would be too hot at sustained WOT, but perfect, IMO, for the other 99.9% of the time.
