ATTN Diesel Dan: FASS system loses all pressure when cold....

Lately when it gets pretty cold out my FASS 150 w/filters loses all pressure when cold out. Thats right it reads 0 psi on the gauge.

What is the culprit? The pump is running as I can hear it.
Do I need a special spring or do dad?

Any advice appreciated...

justin, what gauge are you using?

i use an autometer with the electric sender and since its gotten cold, my pressure is erratic. its normally 13 at idle and no less than 10 at WOT. ive been cruising and seen it read 5, then 15, then 10. i think its my gauge/sender. just a thought if you use an electric gauge.

SO i would make the assumption that when it warms up, it works fine? Getblown gave you some good advice. This is what i always suggest to check first due to all the FASS issues that actually turn out to be a gauge screwing up.

You heard it running...so you have power back to the unit. You are in IN.....so i would assume you are around the same temps we are seeing here. Teens - 30's? Fuel should not be an issue here.

I have a few irons in the fire at the moment....let me ponder this one and ill post some more......

Justin:

I had the SAME problem with my FASS on the 96' here about a month ago and it ended up being my electric "Autometer "Sport-Comp" Fuel Pressure Gauge. I hooked up a mechanical F.P. gauge going right to the P-7100 Pump and found I had normal pressure. Johnner and I have since changed the gauge and so far, no more problems!

Is your fuel gelling up? Mine work fine when cold. I don't get the same pressure at wot as with the warmer ambients. Have you installed the heater lines to the pump? Its run at -40deg's F and survived. Is your suction line tight?
