ATS Manifold ?

Are there any reasons to go with the ceramic coated (high temp coating) ATS manifold instead of the standard one?

Thanks

as far as headers on cars the coating makes them last like forever. I think it improves air flow too. I dont know if it matters on thies or not.

If you don't mind a rusty looking manifold don't get it coated, it will make little difference performance wise.

Anyone have good before & after data on improvements from the ATS manifold on 24v? Do they really lower egt's and improve spool up times?

I didn't notice enough of a difference with either EGT's or Spool up, for me it was more a matter of not having to worry about a cracked manifold than anything else.

Thought I read somewhere the cracked manifold issue was pre 2000 concern and had been eliminated by 2002?? Anyone know?

From what I have read over at TDR this can easily happen on any model year, to include the 03's and 04's. It may be overkill, but I am glad I shouldn't have to worry about it at all anymore.

If you port it out you will get a good flow improvement, if put on with the rough machining that it comes with it at the ports, there will be little difference. I received a good flow with mine ported, those who put it on stock do not claim this improvement. I opened mine up to the gasket lines and blended a lot of material out of the first couple of inches.

Does any body have specifics about porting the manifold. Sounds like a good idea

Lay the gasket on the top and blast it real quickly with spray paint so you can see the out line. Grind away to that point and then proceed as far back as you can, being sure to blend it all real nice and smooth. Air like smooth, round curves. Not rough, sharp edges.

Laying the gasket on there and using a "Sharpie" or other indelible marker works also.
