ARP Head Stud install help
I'm going to install ARP head studs in my 01 HO truck on Saturday. I've got a set of BD twins to follow after that. I ordered a bottoming tap from ARP and their assembly lube for the install. One of the guys who will be helping me asked me how will we get the tap out without pulling the head. Obviously one of the reasons to install the studs is so I don't have to pull the head so I thought that was a fair question (don't know what the tap looks like yet, it is on order). I'm not sure how long it is to see if it will come out easily. Anyway, another question is ARP is saying 120 ft lbs if you use oil as the lube and 191-195 ft lbs if you use their assembly lube. Does this sound right? Any experience anyone has that can offer some assisstance is appreciated. BTW, thanks to Joe Farmer for the torque sequence on another post.

Don, thanks for that input too. I was very nervous about the 191-195 ft lb spec from tech support at ARP. I've heard that some have broken if you go above 120 or so.
Anyone know about whether their will be an issue getting the tap out or not? It may make more sense after I see it.

Dont exceed 122. Many have but some have broken past that.
I use 122 myself, with lube. TQ them slowly.

The 3 UPS red packages showed up this morning. The one from ARP had the torque instructions in there. It agreed with Don M., 122 for 30 weight motor oil, or 96 ft lbs with the ARP Moly Assy lube. The tap doesn't look like anything special, especially for what I payed for it. Now I'm wondering if it will thread out enough to get it out....it is short.

Given your previous test of ARP studs at various torque's, I'm surprised at your advice at stopping at 122. Is it because of information within the email of going to twins and future cylinder pressures?
