Any easy way to identify injectors?

So my friends keep insisting my truck has larger injectors but I'm not sure how to tell, short of pulling them out. I've raced a few friends on some back roads and have even been able to pull away from an 05 quadcab, automatic, with a smarty on level 3. Given my edge was up on level 5, I figured from a 2nd gear start my manual trans and 37's with stock gears would have been a major disadvantage.

The truck will smoke okay from the stacks when it's lugged down but more of a grayish smoke than straight coal. with a 4" DP and 5" from there out the EGT's can still peak over 1300 on the street with the hammer down and the chip cranked.

I'd like to put bigger injectors in but don't wanna buy a 100hp injector and find out i've already got them. Any ideas on how I can figure it out?

You could take one out and get it tested at a diesel shop. You should be able to take one injector off without having to take the injector lines off.

the edge stage 3 nozzles I installed had a "3" stamped on the side of the nozzle barrel. You could take #1 injector out, take it apart to look for ID markings on the nozzle. put back together within 30-40 mins

I'd heard that if you take them apart you need to get the recalibrated or "pop tested", is that the case with these injectors? and from looking at your sig, is there much difference with level 6 on the juice?

You will need to sepperate the line from the had and tube but you will be able to leave them on the engine. Dont forget to back the tube out an inch or so.

You should get them pop tested if you pull the nozzles off.

I've been wondering about the same thing. I bought my truck used at 130k so I don't have any idea whats been done to it. Can you tell the difference between stock injectors and injectors that have been modified? My truck is stock as far as i know except for the mileage max and puts out a small cloud of smoke whenever i put the pedal down with the boost under 6-8 psi. Maybe this is just normal?

no need to pop test. ur just taking apart and back together the parts that r calibrated together, same spring, same button, same plunger!

Power level 6 makes a great difference with larger injectors. tiz also the level most fuel efficient, cruising that is!

stock injectors have 7 sprays. edge mozzles have 8, perhaps others do too. yeah, under low boost, the odd puff of smoke is no biggie
