Another Turbo Question

Fighting high egt numbers when towing. Trying to decide if I want to go bigger on the turbo or water to cool or control the temps. Like the idea of the K.I.S.S. theory of turbo to control heat. Which turbo would be the better choice for my set up? thinking BI, do not want to loose the exhaust brake so I think I need/want a bolt up unit.
Couple questions (forget about money for a minute as this site has a reputation for making all involved spend money)
1) which will give me better heat control - water or turbo? without compromising power gains.
2) Is there a warning light setup when temps rise above a preset level?
3) Would really like to do just one or the other and want to make the right decision the 1st time.

Well what should have been thought out in the first place was you wanting lots of power, and wanting to have an exhaust brake. So naturally a turbo change should have been anticipated...

Money aside, the truck should have been equipped with a 4" exhaust and a 4" inline exhaust brake. That will give you whichever turbo options you want.
The reality, no Holset exhaust housing that chokes down to under 3" to retain the turbo-mount exhaust brake is going to flow worth a darn.

Sell the turbo mount exhaust brake and buy an 4" inline.

I've got the same towing problem...going thru the archives, found this post.
I too want to keep my turbo mount exhaust brake.

Sooo... the option seems to be water injection to keep the EGT's down on those hard pulls. Add methanol and you get a power gain too.
All at HALF the price of a new/hybrid turbo AND buying an inline exhaust brake.

Glad I found this post - it has made my mind up.

You could always sell me your stock turbo and exhaust brake and start from scratch! tiny HY turbo could certainly use an upgrade!

You can also upgrade the hx35 to a hybrid and/or install a cam for lower egts without removing the jake.

Just pointing out some more options even if it complicates the debate
