Another injector question

OK, from everything I have read and understand the best bang for my buck (I dont have many either ) on my ISB 235 would be to buy some new/bigger injectors. Where should I buy them, what size do I have now and what size do I need to buy? Also I do have an extra 01 ISB 235 engine in my posession, are those injectors bigger or interchangeable? TIA

Your "spare" 235 ISB has the same injectors as you already have. Depending on how much you want to spend, how much power you want and what the intended purpose of the truck is, you can go from mild to wild on an ISB when it comes to injectors. Don M from Formula 1 diesel is on the cutting edge of injector technology and arguably makes the best ISB sticks but be prepared to pay. For those of us on a budget, RV275 injectors which are from the 275 hp version of the ISB are a factory Cummins part and an inexpensive alternative. They offer a 40 hp increase and are a great compliment to a fueling box for those who want to stick with the stock turbo. I have them and think they are well worth it. If I had the $$$ I would not hesitate to get a set of Mach 1.6's (nearly 100 hp) from Don for towing or a set of 150 hp Mach 4's (cleanest and meanest 150 hp sticks out there) for hot rodding. Mach 4's with a fueling box will require a turbo swap and a stronger clutch as they do provide fueling for 500+hp.

Nice! Thanks again for the very good and detailed help. What do the RV275's come in? I am in the auto salvage buisness so I think this would be the best choice for my broke behind.

The 275 ISB came iny many things.......RV's, buses, medium and heavy duty trucks. Seems to me, most things other than the Dodge that came equipped a 5.9 ISB were the 275 hp version although I'm sure some medium duty trucks may have come with a lower output version. FWIW, brand new 275 sticks can be had for $300 and sometimes a bit less when you shop around.

WS6HUMMER,

Be cautious on used ones even from a correctly running engine, lots of potential problems that just aren't worth it for most folks. Especially when you can get new Bosch ones for less than 280.00.

Thanks, I'm gonna look @ our Komatsu loader @ work and see what its got just to be curious. So all I need to do is look on the ID tag on the LH side of the timing cover and make sure it reads 275 hp or ISB 275?

Something else to consider is injector nozzles. You can get 60-150 HP nozzles for a decent prices.
