Another dually conversion thread!

I'm sure this has been beat to death, and I searched a lot before posting. I'm trying to figure out if I'd be better off to buy a dually conversion kit with the spacers and wheels and all, or if I should just go get a one ton dually axle and install it. If it's that simple, not sure. What are the pros and cons here? Read that the 2500 has a dana 70 vs. an 80 in the 3500, does that make a big difference?

My plans for the truck are kinda evolving now, I'm having a built tranny put in, some mach 1.6's, a smarty, E-brake, maybe air bags, and I'd like to convert it to DRW and put a flat bed on it. Cheaper than another truck. Got the funds saved, just need to figure out the conversion options.

if your plans are for sure to go with a flatbed then you'd be bettter off finding a narrow cab & chassis rear end, if you go with the regular dually rear end or use the spacers it's gonna be somewhat wider than if you go with the cab & chassis rear, I had a flatbed on my 97' with the regular dually rear end & it wasn't too terrible looking, but it was custom built to fit the wider rear end, just a few thoughts hope it helps some, Dusty
