I love my truck. After the numerous modifications I've made,
my truck is reliable , pulls hard, has great throttle response,
tows great, gets good mileage,doesn't squeek,rattle or shake,
does everything I ask and hasn't required any parts except normal
maintenance. I have a feeling this is how 98% of the Dodge Diesels
perform. I just get paraniod sometimes reading about the problems
suffered by others on this site.

 

It's good to know what might happen, ---but, maybe you should not leave your house-you could get shot in a drive by shooting, or then maybe get run over by that bus with a Cummins in it

 

Yeah, I can't figure it out either. Three years in the gravel, dirt, mud, and sand in West Virginia and the Rockies, and all I've had go wrong are two lift pumps and an intermediate steering shaft. And those are "known" problems, so I really don't count them -- I fixed them with a pusher pump and a Borgson unit.

In the meantime, buddies of mine are having some serious problems with Duramaxes and Fords. So I dunno.... Lucky?

 

what are the systems of that steering issue? i have a bump in my steering wheel while holding the wheel turned (like an exit ramp) and it feels like something in the steering shaft has slop and play in it causing this bump

 

I bought my truck used with 52,000 miles. I've had a fuel pressure gauge on
the truck since I've owned it. Just replaced the lift pump last month. Idle was 11 psi
WOT was 7 psi. Now idle 15psi , WOT 11 psi.I probably didn't need to replace it, but
did so to be safe. Hope I just didn't waste $164.00 for nothing

 

Dieselcamper, if nothing else you have a known good (fairly good?) spare in case of failure! I keep my original under the back seat just in case. it had 8psi idle when i removed it.

 

Its kinda like being a cop. All you see is bad people or at lease people at their worst. They never get called to see families doing normal stuff.

Reading this site can scare you into thinking something is wrong when nothing is wrong. Use this site as a resource, not as a warning.
