Re:Aluminized vs. stainless.......

Jamie, have never heard about copper being illegal for an exhaust. Why would that be?
The Jag I converted to dual exhaust used 2 inch BRASS tubing front to back. This was years ago and where I was at that time (Swaziland) legalities was unheard of.
BTW, the Jag was easy to convert to dual exhaust because it had OEM dual exhaust manifolds.
Is a brass exhaust also illegal in your neck of the wood?

Ya sorry I misread that yes brass and copper are illeagal here! How insane is that. Appearantly they produce noxious fumes when they get hot? I have no idea all I know is my uncle got booked huge by the DOT for having copper exhaust!.

Re:Aluminized vs. stainless.......

Sounds a lot like bureaucratic nonsense to me. I can see it now.... driving down the 404 and harming the people in the cars behind you with all the noxious fumes POURING off a brass or copper exhaust. The quantity of noxious gasses coming off such an exhaust system must be unbelievable!!!!!!
Please don't pardon my sarcasm. Would love to meet the individual that dreamed this one up. Not to mention the idiotic politicions who actually allowed this law to pass.

Re:Aluminized vs. stainless.......

I remember reading through the forums when I first joined, and the common consensus was that Diesels don't produce water as a byproduct of combustion like gas engines do,
therefore,
we don't really need the expensive stainless exhaust.

Aluminized should be just peachy for many years.

Unless this school of thought has changed in a year?

phox
