A stock 47re is in no way near superior to the stock Allison. The Allison is a 5 and 6 spd auto where the 47re is a 4spd auto. I believe that a company that all they do is build transmissions for all sizes of trucks will build a better tranny than an automaker(Dodge). Also, you can go to PPE and get kits for the Allisons that will make them handle 1000+ hp. Dodge is known for having automatic transmission troubles in just about every vehicle they make. They used to anyways, I dont know about now. I would rather have a built Allison any day over a built 47re. Thats just my opinion.

"....have you checked the build sheet on the window of the Duramax? What's that Allison going for? Around $5000 is what I think I saw...how was the Allison designed? "

The Allison option will run you into the 2-3K range and is well worth it.
