Air Lockers

What does it take to add air lockers to a truck with an open differential.

The ARB Air locker is one of the most technically involved installs out there........In addition to going through the usual prodedures for installing a new carrier and setting up the ring and pinion properly, one bearing cap has to be grooved for the copper air line to poke through, the housing drilled and tapped for the air fitting and a compressor plumbed and installed to activate the unit.

There is the Eaton E-locker but applications are limited (so far)......There is the Detroit Electrac which operates like their Trutrac posi in the unlocked position. Both of these units operate via an eletric solenoid that eliminates the need for an air actuation system. Then there is the Ox locker which engages by a manual lever via a cable.......I am not impressed with this locker as I have seen a spectacular failure that showed a clear weakness in the locking mechanism compared to some of the other units........So far, the ARB appears to be the most robust unit out there but the electric lockers are much newer and have yet to prove themselves in the field. Time will tell.........FWIW, the Detroit unit looks well engineered and quite robust.

Went to the ARB websight but doesn't give any info, you have to request info via snail mail. Any ideas for vendors out there that may give a little more on there websight.
