I agree with Bill. Changing it is cheap insurance.
Specific answer to your question might involve how long you stayed at 300* on your hard pull and how long ago you last changed your ATF. Definitely safer with synthetics.
Good indicator would be to wipe off dipstick with your fingers. Looking for any "burnt" smell. If you still have good red color and no odor, probably ok...but would still plan on shortening next change interval due to increased additive depletion. Good Luck!

Amsoil claims their ATF "resists high temperature degradation three times longer" so I wouldn't dump it just because you hit a high temp once or twice!
I am running Amsoil in my Tranny and have pegged the gauge a couple times and the fluid still looks fine and, well, it always smelled nasty but does not smell burnt at all...

I agree on the extra cooler first. The bigger pan next. Dont use the flat, pressed style cooler. It slows the flow and if your tranny does start to go, the debris will catch here, plug it up and kill it before you can get it home. Use the round, tube style. The larger the tube, the better. Get a gauge and mount the probe in the line coming out of the pump and before the cooler. Switch to synthetic too. Do all this and it will take some serious abuse to hurt it. Put synthetic in the diffs too. This will keep the temps down, yet lube quicker when cold.
