'99 Oil Filter Tough Access

Are all the '99's this way? There is access from the top but is not much room for hands and under the filter are a couple A/C lines! Something I may be overlooking?

I always remove the tube from the airbox to the turbo and it seems like there is a ton of room.

This! Took me a while to figure that one out. Just loosen the band clamp on the turbo air tube, remove whole deal, and voila, easy filter change.

yeah, pretty much always from the top. Get the airbox tube outta your way and you are good to go. I sometimes have trouble getting a good grip on the filter with my big ham fisted hands. Have had to resort to tapping the outside edge of the filter with a small chisel to get it started. Yes, I know, get offa my back already! Sometimes I do tighten it down a half a turn too far. SHEESH!

Cheers!

i do that and i also modified my filter wrench.
i took my swivel handle filter wrench and ground off the rivet at the end of the band and put a 1/4" bolt in it.
i take the bolt off the band and slide it around the filter, put in the bolt and remove the filter.

my filter wrench the band will not fit through/under the bottom of the filter.
