98 12v in a 2002 six speed
I got a roll over 98 dodge 12 valve 4x4 this week. Body is toast, but axles and motor are good. Has anyone put a 12er in a newer truck? What is all involved. I either want a P-pumped 24 or a 12 valve. What is all involved? Truck is still surging and cant figure it out. ALso, I have the manual and this truck has an auto. Will this work out? I would get a bigger pump for it. I would turn this motor into a workhouse.
Im debating the same thing in a 01 5spd.The motors from a 97 and it is a complete 215 motor with low kms.It cant be that hard, the engine needs hardly any electronics and considering that it is a manual truck that its going into there isnt much to the tranny. The hardest part would be to get the cruise and tach to work I think. No one has really replied to my inquiry of it.I am contemplating the p pump 24 ,but want the entire 12v in there.I am going to stoopid pump it regardless.
For a standard truck, it should be an easy install either installing the 12v or putting in the P pump. The only issue will be the tach to work and getting used to the check engine light being lit. I would install the complete engine from the 12v or do a P pump conversion. There is a list of items that you'll need to do the swap correctly and its been discussed many times, so do a search on P pump conversions.

i would think it could be done with a little engineering for the electronics and the throtle, ones cable the other being elect, as far as tranny as long as you have the correct flywheel dont believe anythings changed the hardest part would be the electrics as far as gauges power for inj pump and the ecm maybe
