I am sure this topic has been debated before and I have searched some of the threads but did not find exactly what I was looking for. Just purchased a 97 manual trans truck with 158k.

Old owner took the turbo off for his 92 so the truck is complete less turbo. My goal for this truck is a high horsepower tow rig that can run the strip on the odd weekend. It will likely end up automatic at some point and will go to twins but for now I would like to know what you guys would recommend for a turbo to be upgraded to twins later. Money is not a factor but I don't want to buy a turbo now and then two later.

PS: Truck will get the standard mods such as 4k GSK, Homemade plate, BHAF,and exhaust manifold

 

Kevin, search through the pages, there's tons of info on turbos, from Super B's, compounds yadayada... I put an HX40 on a buddy's truck last summer and it really woke it up! It all depends on how far you want to go i guess. I'd be interested in seeing how that cummins runs without a turbo, having had several naturally aspirated Toyota Land Cruisers, and turboed a couple.
If your stepping up to an auto, let me know i'd gladly take that manual off your hands cause i'm planning on going to a stick in the next couple months.
