96 12V info needed

I have a 2500 ram 2WD with a 5.9 turbo diesel it has 100000 miles and its bone stock Im looking to up grade I have been told to keep it reliable there is only a couple things i should do
Cold air intake
4" exhaust
throttle plate
and a governor spring
and I have been told this should net me about 340 HP and around 400 TQ

if this is correct I need to know where to get a throttle plate and governor spring the other 2 are straight forward

Thank you Steve

the "throttle" plate your talking about is actually called a fuel plate or cam plate (depending on who you talk to)..and both fuel plate and governor spings are available from places such as TST, and PDR. The things people forgot to mention: 1) you can adjust the stock parts such as the fuel plate and AFC housing to make more power but it wont make 340 hp on that alone 2) Is that there are many different fuel plates with varying levels of power or torque curves(again depending on who you talk to) and that not all kits with fuel plates come with a way to adjust the boost such as a boost elbow to take better advantage of the extra fuel flow. 3) they forgot to mention that there is 2 different governor spring kits. The first will allow you to rev over 3000rpm while the second will allow you to rev to 4000 rpm but you need heavy duty exhaust valve springs to do so. 3) they forgot to mention to get gauges that measure boost egt and trans temp so that you are able to make sure your not hurting anything 4) theres more ways then just these to make reliable horsepower such as a bigger turbo that will be able to handle the extra fuel better

thank you that helps alot i know there is always more than 1 way to skin a cat
my truck is a 5 speed that may not change much other than I dont have to worry about it
I really dont want to spin to 4K I think what would require a lot more work this trucks #1 job is towing my race car and trailer around

In that case i would get gauges from Isspro or Autometer a cold air intake from companies like AFE or S&B and add to your list an intake manifold that is available from a company like ATS or you can do what i did which is order one ebay called a CoolerTubz it does the same job as far as i can tell at half the cost. For a fuel plate and governor spring kit (gsk for short) Id go with TST because they have good instructions and the fuel plate comes with a boost elbow to take advantage of all the fuel. I would also add a 3-piece exhaust manifold from a place like ATS, BD Diesel or HTT to go with a turbo back 4inch exhaust. Dont forget that you can change the postion of the fuel plate, and adjust the star wheel to gain your "sweet spot" for towing. If you do need to get a better clutch should you decide you want even more towing power South Bend seems to be the place to go.

I'd save some money and grind your own plate from the stocker. My 24v has 4k springs in it, and it seems to get up and go easier than my 12v with the 3k springs. Nice thing about the 4k kit, is that it is a 3k kit with 2 extra springs. If you don't want a 4k kit in it, just leave the two smallest springs out. Just because you have 4k springs in doesn't mean you will have to rev that high. I got my springs from Peak Diesel. Thats the guys who made PDR what it was.

Be prepared for a clutch. With just a plate, my clutch would slip around 3/4 throttle. I couldn't get past 25psi without it slipping. It will be worse if you are towing.

thanks guys I used it the first time this weekend to tow my 20' enclosed and my car and I was very impressed with how it performed and even more so with the fuel mileage
So I think I will try a couple mods and see how it goes
