95 ram new TC ?
95 ram new TC ?
I want to replace my torque converter and don`t know what would be a good choice. I have a golden falcon fiver with a gross of 10.000 and tow most every weekend in the spring summer and Fall. The truck has 265000 klms on it now. I shifts strong and does not slip ,but If I use to much pressure on the throttle I can make OD slip around 50 mph on a hill.. That scares me . I have installed the switch for tc lock and use it all the time.I also want to install a fan assisted trans cooler for next summers towing. The temps will climb real fast on some hills I have to go up.So my question is what should I use in the truck to replace the stock TC and where will I find a fan assisted Collier to replace the stock unit. Thanks Don T
The top two in my book would be Phil at Diesel Performance Converters or Dave Goerend. I would call them and tell them what you do with the truck and they will get you what you need! A good single disc with billet front cover should do everything you need and more.
Dave Goerend told me that the single disc needs higher line pressure to operate, requiring a custom valve body as well. I didn't have the extra few hundred dollars, so I bought the triple disc TC, which doesn't need the higher pressure. I did install his heavy duty apply lever, strap, and anchor kit, in case I decide to do a valve body later on. I am VERY pleased with the difference it has made.
Well I will be looking for a triple disc TC come spring. I wish it was available in Canada because of the high cost of shipping . I have found a heavy duty apply lever, strap, and anchor kit and would do that mod when I install the new tc. i have to ask if these parts are available in Canada and where should I look ? Thanks so much . Later Don T
