This 94 12V is an absolute slug

hey guys, we have a truck in our shop right now, its a 94 3500 4x4 reg cab. this thing was a complete dog, nearly had to floor it to drive it normally, we adjusted the valves, set the timing, and slid the plate all the way, and the truck is no different ???????? I think its a fuel problem cause there is absolutely no smoke at all. Has a good fuel filter, runs ok, just no power whatsoever, almost have it floored on accel just to drive it. any thoughts? Thanks

There could be many things wrong like,OFV,LP,plugged fuel lines, shutoff switch or even the IP.Your best bet now would be to install a fuel pressure gauge and see what pressure your getting.I think the LP maybe the problem.

sounds like the piston pump might be out, clogged fuel lines, clogged fuel filter

With no smoke, I would be suspecting the AFC diaphram may be punctured or seized up .

I suspect the fuel shut off solenoid is not fully lifting the lever arm and is limiting fuel flow to the injection pump. Might turn the key on and push the lever up to see if it will open up any further.

A 160hp auto truck will hardley get out of its own way. I slid my plate foward and it would hardly smoke and was still weak, check the fuel pressure.

I beg to differ!!

I would check the AFC. Pull the fuel plate and see if that makes it smoke. Mine really didnt wake up until I put a set of sticks in it.

Check the throttle linkage. Does it go full fuel when you push the pedal to the mat? After 14 years I suspect it may have stretched a bit.

Almost forgot about this one.
Local Dodge mechanic called me to help with a 12 valve pig. I went through the checklist and determined no boost. We went through the possibles and found a blown boost actuator as well as the waste gate stuck open.
Only Dodge option is a new turbo.
I educated them on calling local Cummins shop for repair parts. A little elbow grease to free the waste gate plus new actuator made a happy customer.

boost line from the turbo to the pump might have a hole in it putting no pressure on the afc so no power

wastegate stuck open couldnt build boost, kinda like a big boost leak, suprised there wasnt a ton of smoke.
