600hp on a single?

How is it going everyone? I am trying to build my truck up to put down 600HP or slightly more at the rear wheels on diesel only, and would like to do so with a single turbo. Some people might wonder "Why a single???" and my reason is so if I am to sledpull (like I would like to) I don't want to run in the Super Street class. I don't think there could be any way I would be able to compete in it with a daily driven truck, or afford to build my truck to that spec... I will have my PDR cam in and I am going to get a new head with a Stg. II P&P, 3-angle valve grind with bigger valves and O-ringed. The chargers I am considering the most are...

1. Silver Bullet 66
2. Pro Street 66
3. Aurora 5K

Would 1 & 2 be able to handle that kind of power level? I know they would have the better street manners over the A5K, but how terribly bad is the A5k compared to them? I don't really do any towing anymore and if I did tow it would be light weight stuff. Are there any custom Hybrids that are out and-about that could also be considered? If their are let me know. lol

Am I asking the impossible; to get a single charger I could daily drive, sledpull occasionally, AND lay down 600hp? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

600hp on a single charger 12v will be strictly no towing allowed, and will probably have surging problems with the big chargers...however, once on boost, they will flat run!

Remember though...whatever charger it takes a 24v to make a certain power, go at least the next size bigger for a 12v...the dinosaur injection system and anemic head screws us bigtime in the airflow and combustion efficiency departments!

I don't know where I am right now, but this Garrett spools about 17-1800RPM, surges bad, and smokes a light haze about the whole time your accellerating!

I wouldn't want 600hp to do any towing with, I would deffinately use my valet switch and hopefully bring it down to 450hp-500hp. Hmm... I know Forrest said he liked the Silver Bullet's driving characteristics, could it support the HP?

Whoops...I missed that you had a 5spd...that would help A LOT I've drove this auto long enough I seem to be in that mode!

Either on those "should" support 600hp...EGT's will be toasty I'll bet, but it should do it! The A5K would be a mean sucker on a 12v once she lit!

Gonna put mine ont the rollers this weekend and see what she'll make but Doug made 600+ on that B-1 Steroid i got for sale and i almost think it cools better than my Pro Street 66 and i drive my truck everyday both a lil laggy but managable. I know i have a 24v and your is a 12v but just thought i'd let you know

Do you have head work on your motor or a cam? That is pretty hot, very fast... That is one of the reasons I would consider a 71mm turbo (on the inducer) if it had decent daily driver manners.

Are there any turbine housings available that could be machined to fit a Garrett GT42 journal bearing turbo's center section? If I could get one to fit that was between 14cm-16cm I would be willing to pay a pretty hefty price to do so if that would make that turbo streetable. I spoke with a guy at I.I. today (I think his name was Dave???) who seems to think that I could make these numbers on a SPS62 with headwork and a Silver Bullet 66 without... I don't think that would be possible with a 62, maybe a Silver Bullet though. Thanks guys for the help, I appreciate it!

The silver bullet will make that power and be farly streetable, IIS can build you a k31 that has a 71mm inducer and a 1.00 a/r turbin housing to spool well but that would be over kill for you. I am shooting for 800+ with a k31 silver bullet hybrid. Htt could make that power happen for you as well.

Supposedly the SPS 62 can do it but why not go with the SPS 64 and have better street manners than a 66 and better flow than the 62? Just a thought.

They told me the SPS 62 will easily handle 65 psi and with me only seeing around 46, I can't imagine what 65 would feel like!!! Still thinking about upgrading to the 64 though.

Morkable, who has an 03 did 630+ on a Silver 62. Granted, the 3rd gens breathe better than the 12v, but his EGT's were well in check making that run too. I'm sure a cam and head work would make the 12v head flow atleast as well as the 24v, if not better.

If you want 600 #2 I would do it right the first time and get the Aurora 5000.
There are only a handful of 2nd gens that have done 600 with a single on #2 only.

A friend of mine did 621 on dunbars dyno jet with the A5K on #2 only.

your PS66 isn't enough air? Im runing injectors that are equivalent to Mach 6's with the same smarty/TST combo and my silver bullet won't let me get above 1500* plus it makes awesome power. i will dyno it in may to find the actual HP increase but my best guess would put me in the 575-600 range.

Justin, does the A5K fit into the 2.8 rule or is it bigger?
