FWIW,

On a small note the 47re uses the same trans filter as a 68 coronet with a 727 trans meaning the Dodge filter kit is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than the triple the price Ford filter kit just for example on some small price differences

My guess is because it was already in the truck. Id say either one would be good built up, but why change to a ford tranny? I imagine Dave Goerend could hook you up for not much more,a nd have an awesome warranty/customer service. I just think it will give you a lot of un-needed headaches trying to switch to a ford tranny. My .02
