4K GSK Governer spring towing issues

Guys

I hooked up a decent load to the truck a couple of days ago (Pics will be in gallery soon). And i noticed something. The truck will run just fine when it is empty (aside from a cruddy idle, see other thread) But here is the kicker..

I hooked up a fairly heavy gooseneck the other day (32 foot) to bring back some bales and i saw that the the truck would run and take off just fine in first and second gears, but in third and fourth, i would have surging issues (yes again) from 1500 or so RPMS till about 2000 rpms, above that, the truck would run flawlessly. I dared not grab OD cause the load was rather heavy.

I had the issue that my idle would all of a sudden drop to 250 rpms with my G springs TWO clicks back from where its currently set, and i took it apart yesterday and set it to the exact same settings at 6 3/4 turns plus one click.

Was the weight too much for my engine to handle? was it the injectors? was it my g springs? I need help with determining what this is, and finding out why the truck runs just fine empty, but loaded down with over 7K it starts to surge in those gears..

Suggestions? ideas? thanks guys!

Respectfully

Rick

you should have 3 return springs on your pump, i bet you are missing one or two of them.

I mentioned that that spring could be weak in your other post rick, either way if there weak, broke or just missing it can cause an inconsistant idle.

Sounds to me like there is a problem with your GSK...but I've not been around a 4K much. My 3K is perfect for what I'm doing with the '95
